Lawrence Torto is a Ghanaian born contemporary Visual Artist and an Environmentalist. 

he grew up in the Art studio surrounded by immense Art Masterpieces by his father.

his encounters with this Paintings sparked his enthusiasm and ignited his artistic development which led him to start drawing at age 5.

According to the Artist, "Art is therapeutic, it improves my creativity, increases my visual intelligence and equilibrium and heals me physically and spiritually". 

Torto basically emphasizes in textile Art, he's inspired to create Art by Upcycling discarded fabrics to Produce Portraits & figuratives that explore the dynamic interplay between fashion and Art and Environmental Sustainability. 

his work is deeply influenced by the Ghanaian culture, black history and the recent era trends of fashion. he's a lover of fashion, and believes when Art and fashion merges, Magic happens. hence, the adoption of these two into his practice to erupt that dynamic chemistry. 

working with wasted fabrics and Acrylics on canvas, he spontaneously unravel their beautiful layers by upcycling them in a Predetermined experiment, not only to create Art but to birth images, portraits and figuratives that establish a communicative dialogue with observers, captivates the soul, appealing to the eyes and stimulates the mind.

over the years,  he has participated in enormous international exhibitions from groups to Solo's and aver 80pieces of his works has been collected and commissioned all over the world. 

had his Debut international Solo in Asia in 2022 which Sold out, exhibited in Los Angeles a number of times, in London, Paris, Rome, Maryland. etc
